Tours around Barcelona

Catalonia has a lot to offer. Not only the cool and trendy Barcelona, there is also an impressive landscape. The Montserrat Mountain has a unique rock structure and a monastery on top!

The cities of Girona and Figueres are interesting too. Girona has a beautiful medieval city center and Figueres is the birthplace of Dalí and his hosts the famous Dalí Museum. The coast of Catalonia - especially the Costa Brava is very famous for its long sandy beaches and beautiful cliffs with turquoise water!

Or you head south of Barcelona - into the wine region and the home of the wineries of Freixenet and Torres!

My experience at Torres winery

grapes of Torres

Note

I visited the Torres winery on my own. It was later that I saw the Ticketbar-Tour. For that reason I just can tell you something about the Torres winery.

The Torres-Tour

We booked the tour online and asked for a german speaking tour. In the end it was a mixed group, but that wasn't a problem at all, because everybody got audioguides in their own language.

The tour starts with a film about the winery and the family of Torres. After that you get into a little "train" to see the winery. Meanwhile the audioguide gives you more information.

We had a stop in the cellar and two women explained more detailed the building of the wine casks and the different wood they use for them. She did this in German, on the side there was the same explanations in English and Spanish.

The wine tasting

Final stop of the tour was the tasting-room. at the beginning of the tour you can choose the quantity of wine you want to taste. As that was our only winery - we tasted 3 different wines. I think with the Ticketbar you'll get less at Torres, but you've got two other wineries to go! The Torres guides gave us more information about the wine we were tasting and their origin.

Conclusion

The visit of Torres winery was interesting and yummy :) Only getting there was kind of complicated and expensive. We took the train to Vilafranca del Penedès and had to find a taxi to bring us to the winery and back - and that was kind of expensive...
